Windsor Lake

Today is Easter Sunday.  Easter has come to be my favorite religious holiday.  So after a beautiful Easter Vigil Mass last night, we got up, went to get my mom and went back to church for a second Easter Mass.  Very different Mass but also nice.

After our hike yesterday and the tired legs that we have today we decided that we would do a nice gentle easy hike/walk.  We're so lucky to live in an area where we can go one mile from our house and enjoy a hike or paddle around the lake.  Not the nicest of days weather wise, but it didn't rain so that was a plus.  I think we can enjoy some dessert tonight after dinner...we have earned it!

Walking through a part of the trail we found this cool old tree.  The hole in it was probably more than 4 feet high and 2 feet deep.  I'd love to put a video camera around there to see what animal lives in this little cave.

This picture I actually took last week walking this same trail.  This is on the side of West Shaft Road.  We assume that this was the repair of damage done from Hurricane Irene last August 2011.  We walked up to the road and could see where the stream runs down from the mountain and under the road through a pretty large pipe that probably couldn't contain the volume of water rushing through it.  It must have been flowing over the road and down this embankment.  Hiking through the woods this past winter we've seen so much damage around Berkshire County from that storm.  Amazing what the force of water can do!
It was a nice Easter walk.

Easter Blessings.
